Jay Taparia

Founder

Profile

Jay Taparia is the Founder of Climate Protection Lab, where he leads the development of data-driven systems designed to anticipate, mitigate, and respond to climate-driven humanitarian crises. His work focuses on the intersection of climate science, urban vulnerability, and large-scale displacement — particularly in regions most exposed to rising temperatures, sea-level rise, and infrastructure collapse.

Jay founded Climate Protection Lab to address a critical failure in global climate response: the continued reliance on reactive aid models in a world facing permanent climate disruption. His mission is to shift climate action toward forecasting, preparedness, and resilience, with a focus on protecting human life, dignity, and economic stability in vulnerable communities. Through Climate Protection Lab, he brings together data science, local supply chains, and humanitarian design to build scalable solutions for a world facing mass displacement and environmental instability.

Education

Jay holds an MBA in Finance, Marketing, and International Business from Northwestern University and an MS in Development and Human Assistance from New York University. This interdisciplinary training equips him with a rare perspective — combining rigorous financial and systems thinking with humanitarian and development expertise — allowing him to operate across policy, technology, and on-the-ground implementation.

Background

Before founding Climate Protection Lab, Jay was a seasoned financial expert and educator with over two decades of experience in academia and the financial services industry. As the founder of Sanskar Global Wealth Advisors + Sanskar Tax Services, he pioneered a 100% paperless financial planning and tax preparation firm, serving over 600 clients across 14 states. Jay’s commitment to education is evident in his teaching career, where he has delivered over 90 courses in finance and marketing at six universities, including a notable tenure at New York University, underscoring his dedication to fostering knowledge and inspiring future leaders in entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship.

Drawing from his extensive background in finance, education, and systems design, Jay founded Climate Protection Lab to address a critical gap in global climate response: the absence of reliable forecasting and preparedness at human scale. His experience evaluating risk, building long-term models, and designing resilient organizations directly informs CPL’s work in developing predictive climate intelligence, strengthening local response capacity, and advancing aid systems that prioritize speed, dignity, and economic stability in the face of accelerating climate impacts.
